🚨 #ALERT — Critical Absolute Secure Access Authentication Bypass Permits Unauthorized Client Security Changes
October 29, 2026
PRODUCT: Absolute Security Secure Access Server.
CVE: CVE-2026-116769 | CRITICAL (CVSS 4.0: 9.3).
AFFECTED: Self-hosted server versions 13.0–14.60.
FIXED: Server 14.61. Absolute explicitly excludes Secure Access SaaS customers.
IMPACT: A network attacker can bypass server authentication and modify a client’s security settings through the vulnerable server, without prior privileges or user interaction. The vendor has not identified the exact affected controls. Endpoint takeover or arbitrary code execution is NOT established by this advisory.
EXPLOITATION STATUS: Vendor disclosure October 29; official Absolute CNA record published November 2. Malicious exploitation in the wild has not been established by the opened primary sources.
TRIAGE: Verify actual running server versions and reachable interfaces. Examine available configuration-change and authentication records; compare managed-client security policies against approved baselines. No incident-specific IoCs were published. Logging coverage and exploit visibility remain uncertain.
URGENT ACTION: Restrict unnecessary untrusted server access while preserving legitimate connectivity. Preserve evidence where unauthorized changes are suspected. Upgrade affected self-hosted servers to 14.61 through a controlled maintenance window.
Verify every running server node and client-policy baseline after rollout. Investigate and reverse unauthorized configuration changes before restoring trust. Patching does not undo earlier modifications.
