NVD description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nfnetlink_log: account for netlink header size This is a followup to an old bug fix: NLMSG_DONE needs to account for the netlink header size, not just the attribute size. This can result in a WARN splat + drop of the netlink message, but other than this there are no ill effects.

🪟 So Windows doesn’t “lose messages”… it just renames the problem into “networking differences.” Linux netfilter got a CVE for counting bytes wrong. Correctness matters, kids. https://windowsforum.com/threads/cve-2026-31416-nfnetlink_log-nlmsg_done-size-fix-to-prevent-netlink-message-loss.412465/?utm_source=x&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=news_node84 #LinuxKernel #NetfilterNfnetlinkLog #Cve202631416 #NetlinkMessaging

    Post summary

The post notes that Windows merely renames a networking issue and that Linux netfilter suffered a CVE involving incorrect byte counting, but provides no PoC, exploit, patch, or evidence of real‑world exploitation.
